Accommodation Sydney Darling Harbour Apart-hotel

I only stayed one night in Sydney because Qantas had a deal with this hotel. It’s cheap and in a great location, but I wouldn’t stay again even if you paid me. The bedroom walls were badly damaged, the toilet kept running, and the carpets looked so dirty I wouldn’t take my shoes off except on the bed or in the bathroom. The smell people mention in other reviews is real. The hotel is right above restaurants, and the odor starts at night when they open.

The building is very old, but everything was clean and tidy. The kitchenette was great, and we could open the window for fresh air. It’s within walking distance of everything and has great views. There’s a pool, sauna, steam room, and gym, though it was too cold to use the pool. The desk staff were all very nice and looked after our luggage for free. Top place, I’ll definitely stay again.

My partner and I found cockroaches in our room. The AC didn’t work, so it was stiflingly hot, and the appliances kept popping and crackling. The shower was rusty and couldn’t be adjusted. There was only one towel for two people, and the toilet paper roll was nearly empty with no spare. It wasn’t worth the more than $200 we paid. We’d have been better off at an ibis.

The apartment had a smell unlike anything I’d encountered before, bad enough that we nearly left. The building hallways smelled even worse, and the old apartment badly needed an upgrade. The staff were friendly enough, but they didn’t understand English at all or seem to know what they were doing. They charged us another $100 on top of the already overpriced room fee and said it would be refunded after checkout. Five days later, we still hadn’t received it. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
