The drive up the hill and the view are what bring us back as locals, not really the food. The staff have been nice on our visits, but the meals feel average for what they cost. The $16 bruschetta was mostly sliced tomato on toast, and the $18 chicken tacos on the Tuesday special were quite dry. I’m comparing them with Taco Tuesday elsewhere, where they’re $5 each and taste better. I hate leaving an unfavourable review, because it is a lovely spot for a drink and a view. Just keep your food expectations modest.

The bed was surprisingly fresh, and the rooms were okay, but they need a proper deep clean and there’s clutter everywhere. Being right above the bar means the soundproofing is miserable. At night you can hear cars as if they’re driving right over you. I wouldn’t stay again.

The view really is amazing, and the service was quick and friendly. The food was a bit disappointing, though the atmosphere made up for that shortcoming. I met a couple of friends here for a 60th birthday lunch and am looking forward to coming back.

The pump beside our room ran all night, connected to the cool room, and kept me from sleeping. When I complained, thinking it was a water pump, I was rudely corrected that it was for the cooler room. There was no apology. We asked to move and they did move us. Avoid rooms 1, 2 and 3 because they’re too noisy.

The place was clean and felt safe, which I really appreciated, and the staff were friendly and made me feel special. It was my first visit and I was impressed. The food was fresh, tasty and full of flavour. I’ll definitely come back!
