We booked after seeing several recent positive reviews, but I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it. The house is a lovely, large weatherboard cottage typical of the area, with an extension and some renovation. The problems started when we arrived: food was left on several surfaces, including the kitchen and coffee tables, and the plates still had food and grease on them. When the cleaner arrived, we learned that doona covers are only washed after every three stays. We also found a bedroom door handle was broken and trapped the door shut. Luckily none of the kids was inside. A bolt fell out of the bunk bed, which seemed unsafe, and then the central heating broke that evening, leaving us cold through a very chilly Katoomba night. When I called about it, the managing agent, Geoff, said that if people don’t tell him there’s a problem, he can’t fix it. I told him it’s called preventative maintenance.
