The main drawback for me was the tiny TV, mounted almost on the ceiling, so it was really only watchable from bed. Otherwise, I recommend Captain Cook Hotel at Botany as a great pub to stay at, with shops and public transport right on the doorstep. The hotel is well located, the room was clean and very good, and the rooms have been tastefully upgraded while keeping the original Aussie pub feel. The ensuite was good, and although the shower was small, it worked well and had good water pressure. Noise wasn’t a problem in room 1. There are several stairs, so accessibility could be an issue for some, though it wasn’t for me. The beer garden was great, and the meals looked good, with an extensive modern pub menu.

The room was simple and clean, and the little fireplace was adorable. It was quite a novel sight for us from Taiwan. Mr. Hogan was very friendly and came to the rescue whenever we had an issue. We were a little surprised there wasn’t a hairdryer, but it didn’t affect our enjoyable stay.

The Boscaiola Schnitty was so good, definitely worth recommending. We met friends for dinner and booking a table was easy. The staff were really helpful, and the place has a great family-friendly atmosphere.

The rooms were roomy and comfortable, and getting to Sydney Airport was easy. It also cost a lot less than staying at an airport hotel. The staff were fantastic.
