Chatswood Hotel In Mantra Building

The location on Brown Street is excellent, close to the train station and surrounded by food options. Westfield is a bit of a walk. I booked Mantra Chatswood for two nights. Check-in was straightforward, though the customer service didn’t feel particularly welcoming or friendly. The apartment-style room was spacious, cosy, and very clean, with a microwave, kettle, tea and coffee sachets, and a bathroom with both a bath and shower. It’s a little outdated, and the uncomfortable bed left my back hurting after two nights. Housekeeping is only available on request, which surprised me because my last stay at another Mantra included daily service. It was a decent stay and I don’t regret booking, but next time in Chatswood I’d probably try a different Mantra or another hotel.

I was here for business and would stay again regardless. The location is great for the shopping precinct and local restaurants, with the train station and busses just across the road. The room was very clean, and check-in service was great. Other enquiries with a different person got substandard service. I could also distinctly feel whenever the neighbours shut their door.

Outside the room, the lobby smelled really bad despite having been doused with spray. Only one elevator was running, and it was extremely slow. There was no access to stairs, which made me wonder what we’d do in an emergency. At first glance the room seemed okay, but looking closer there were major problems. The bathtub wasn’t clean and its bottom was covered in scratches. The ceiling was dirty, and the flimsy doorknob sometimes made it hard to get in. I didn’t enjoy my stay at all. I was very disappointed, especially since I love staying in Chatswood.

The hotel’s location near the train station, shops, and food is the only positive. The TV didn’t work, the air-conditioning didn’t work, and the lifts were unreliable. When they did work, they stopped at every floor, taking you up and down before reaching yours. This place feels like a safety hazard. Another guest told us they found adult toys in their room at check-in. Disgusting customer service and a disgusting hotel. I wouldn’t stay here even out of desperation, especially if travelling alone. They took our money for four nights but only allowed us three, ruining our holiday. They wouldn’t give us the managers’ names or a number to call, and the number provided was fake.
