Clover Free Car Parking Hostel

Please don’t book here. I asked about an adjustment related to my handicap. They couldn’t arrange it, which I accepted, since I’m used to managing in other hostels. Then, one day before my stay, I got a message saying I was causing problems and should cancel and find somewhere else. When I called, the man shouted that he wouldn’t accommodate me and hung up. I couldn’t reach him again. It felt like discrimination based on my handicap. The way people are treated here should be a reason to remove this listing from booking sites.

We managed just one night before leaving. The place was noisy, smelled foul, and had cockroaches and rats, along with lots of junkies. The whole hostel felt filthy. If this is your first hostel after arriving in Australia, you might find yourself wanting to go straight back home. It could leave you feeling really low.

Stephen, the manager, turned out to be such a bad point of contact that we were relieved we never had to stay there. Other reviews make it sound as if we got lucky. We were a couple trying to book together, but were told to make separate bookings. I said that seemed ridiculous when we were staying as a couple, but agreed because we needed somewhere to sleep. Before we could do that, the owner Stephen launched into a long lecture about respecting their policies, even though we’d said we would follow them. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The location made things easy for us, with the city only about ten minutes away by bus. We also felt at home here. Manager Stephan and the other staff were so kind and warm, treated us really well, and helped us a lot.
