Darcys Hotel at Homebush

The owner was quick to help late at night and opened my room door when I needed assistance. There’s no reception, the keys are left on a desk. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, and it’s a short walk to Homebush Train station. I stayed one night for a concert at Olympic park. The old house has lovely high ceilings, street parking was plentiful, and getting in was easy.

The bed was comfortable, check-in was easy, and the ensuite had good hot water pressure. The location is good, but the old house was dirty. I had to clean the filthy air con filter for peace of mind. It could use a renovation or at least some touching up.

The nearby block had rubbish scattered around, which detracted a bit from the otherwise lovely surroundings. Darcy’s Hotel itself is a peaceful, charming place in a heritage building, with spacious, spotless rooms, high ceilings and classic decor. Check-in is self-service and easy. It’s also well located, in a quiet leafy spot near the train station, shops, restaurants and other essentials. A lovely mix of character, comfort and convenience.

Andrew was helpful and accommodating, and the location was handy, just a five-minute walk from Homebush train station and Homebush village. The rooms were large with high ceilings, and the beds were comfy. But we were very disappointed with the stay. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, dead flies, stains on the duvet, and a fridge that didn’t work. The kitchen was dirty, and the aircon units had mold and rust and gave off a musty smell. Electrical items didn’t seem to have been checked, the hairdryer’s last inspection sticker was from 2015, and some wall sockets were loose. I can’t understand how this hotel has a 4.5 rating.
