Hamilton Lodge

This is my new go-to in Sydney. I travel around Australia a lot for work and I'm tough but fair about accommodation. For the price and location, it gets a tick. The place was modern without trying too hard, bright and super comfortable, with two huge rooms and probably the most comfortable bed I've slept in over the last year. There's free parking and a fully equipped kitchen. It's far enough from the city for me, but close enough to take an Uber or walk to Glebe point road, with so many places to eat. Ideal for a longer stay if you want to buy your own food, and I do like cooking breakfast. My only disappointment was staying just one night. I loved it, thank you.

The staff were excellent and made sure we got a ground-floor room, which worked perfectly with our over 10 suitcases. The location is great, near the city and a park, with plenty of restaurants around the corner. Parking may be tricky if you're driving a large SUV like a Kluger.

The check-in was quick, easy and seamless, and the rooms were bright with VERY comfortable beds. The quiet street is close to the CBD, which makes the location just right. From what I can gather, the complex has been under new management only since November last year, so the problems in previous reviews may have been teething issues. I'd definitely come back. Just be aware there's no lift, so carrying luggage upstairs could be difficult for some.

Getting into the room seems to be a recurring problem. The pin codes either don't work or aren't provided, and people end up waiting 30-40mins for help or stuck dealing with automated systems that can't fix it. After long flights and transport or taxi hassles, being unable to settle in is incredibly frustrating. If you need the bathroom or it's raining, being left outside waiting for someone to help is not acceptable. I wouldn't stay here.
