The campground was quieter than I expected, despite being close to the suburban train line. Its location is handy too, near public transport, fast food and the main shopping centre. I stayed two nights at Ingenia holidays Nepean River caravan park. The powered sites were good, though some concrete slabs sat unevenly against the ground and could trip you up. Sites are close together, so I was glad my caravan was small enough to back in where there wasn’t much room to manoeuvre. There’s a pool, jumping pad and activity areas, plus large, clean, easy to use toilet and bathroom blocks. The motion-sensor showers ran for about five minutes unless you turned them off early. It’s a practical place in a convenient spot.

We had a flat, well-kept powered site with plenty of room between sites. The facilities were clean and looked after, especially the bathrooms. The camp kitchen is very basic, with just a fridge, toaster and a couple of BBQ plates. The railway is nearby, and trains go past regularly from 6am to 11pm. They can be loud, but we got used to them quickly. On the plus side, the trains made it easy to get into Sydney and up to the Blue Mountains without driving. The park is also close to the river, which is beautiful, and it’s easy to get between the park and the city of Penrith. I’d stay here again.

The staff were very friendly, but I wouldn’t recommend the place to friends. I paid $95 for one night, which felt very expensive for what we got. Getting my caravan into the site was terrible, and we were right beside a permanent resident’s home. The amenities were a long way down the other end of the park. There was nowhere to walk: it’s residents’ homes in every direction, with no entry, and just one main road in and out. There’s a wooded area at the back of the campground, but no access. Opening it up for a forest walk would be a good idea. I’ve stayed at some great places, and Ingenia has fallen short here.

We love staying at Ingenia nepean. The staff are wonderful, and this time we booked the function room, which had everything we needed. The receptionist was amazing as usual, and even saved me when I needed butter at the very last minute.

There’s a large pool with a kiddie pool, so it works for all ages, and the staff were kind and quickly helped us find our cabin. The rooms, though, are pretty average and very outdated. After a long drive, we were disappointed to find no sheets on any of the beds and had to make all four bunk beds ourselves. For the price, I expected them to be made. The train tracks close to the park are loud too. It would do for a quick overnight stop, but I wouldn’t stay longer than two nights.
