Linwood Lodge Motel

I feel welcome every time I come here, and I enjoy staying here each time.

There was a smell right when I walked in. The sheets were stained, and the furniture looked very dated. A cupboard attached to the ceiling beside the bed, where a bedside table should be, made the room feel claustrophobic. The man at the front was curt and defensive. Nearby budget hotels cost only about 10% more, yet felt much cleaner, safer and quieter. The one good thing was that he told me to go somewhere else.

The place was filthy, with roaches, and I found the staff rude and completely uncaring about guests’ wellbeing. After a nasty injury, I called three times after hours asking for a first aid kit. The phone was answered each time, but the more frantic I sounded, the more I was told to wait until 8am for disinfectant and bandages, even though staff live right on the property. The hygiene was the worst I’ve ever come across in a hotel.

Good value for the money, with tidy rooms, comfortable beds and friendly, trustworthy staff. There’s a microwave, toaster, fridge, and coffee and tea in the room. The bathroom isn’t the best, but it’s passable for what you pay. It works well for a night’s rest. For tourists without their own transport, the location is far out, though buses run in front of the motel. There are no restaurants within walking distance, so you’ll need public transport if you don’t have a car.
