Meriton Suites Mascot Central

I’d been a regular at Meriton Mascot Central since 2023, but my latest stay has put an end to that. The service has clearly slipped. After I left a small personal item behind, I got inconsistent, unhelpful explanations instead of a straightforward solution. Nobody seemed willing to take ownership or help. During the same stay, security stopped me while I was walking to collect extra towels from the gym area. As a paying guest, that felt unnecessary and was handled poorly. At these rates, basic support and professionalism shouldn’t feel like a negotiation. There are better options nearby. Not worth it.

We chose Meriton Mascot again for our second stay because the price for two nights was very reasonable. The room was comfortable overall, though cleanliness could have been better. The location is a big plus, with a Woolworths, Oliver Brown and other shops just minutes away. We especially liked stopping at Oliver Brown for coffee on the walk to the train station during our early mornings for the Boxing Day sales. Checkout could have felt a bit more engaging, but we’d consider staying here again for the location, transport and nearby amenities.

Beds and pillows are comfortable, and the staff are polite and helpful. This Meriton is well located and reasonably priced, much like the consistent experience you get at the other properties. The room, though, was dirty. Finger marks, grime and filthy floors seem pretty standard across the brand. Walk around without shoes and your feet turn black. Bring disinfectant wipes.

The room had useful basics, including a microwave, fridge, table and chairs, sofa, and a washer and dryer. It’s also near the airport. It’s frustrating that they don’t provide an airport shuttle for guests arriving at the hotel, so getting there by cab is expensive. Other hotels offer transport both ways. This place only has a paid shuttle from the hotel to the airport, which seems silly.
