Meriton Suites North Ryde

We had three rooms for our group, and all of them were lovely, clean and comfortable. The pillows were especially good. A few more plates and pieces of cutlery would have helped. The service was great, and the location is handy for the shopping centre and medical facilities. There was some noise from the construction site next door, but it wasn’t too bad. We’ll be back.

After staying here countless times, maybe close to 100 over the last 7-8 years, I had my worst check-in experience on this recent visit. The ‘new’ manager said no to at least five of my usual requests, and told me the regular items I ask for were already in my room. They weren’t. I was charged for parking without being asked. I was told it had been refunded, but only found out at checkout the next day that it hadn’t. There were other problems too, including a slippery shower area and unclean plates. Meriton North Ryde was my favourite for years because of its location and feel-good factors, but this manager has changed that. I’m cancelling my next two bookings this month and don’t see myself returning for the foreseeable future.

On 10th Jan this year, the hottest day, at 44 degrees, the hotel suddenly lost power and the air conditioning stopped. It got too hot and felt unsafe to stay in the room. The lobby was chaotic, with lots of people asking questions, while communication from management was poor. We received no compensation, just two bottles of water. Disappointing experience overall.

After several disappointing stays elsewhere around Sydney, I’m so glad to have found a place where I can rest. The room was lovely, the hotel surroundings were beautiful and clean, and it was amazingly quiet at night. It’s also only a three minute walk from a major shopping complex. I visit Sydney once a year, and this will definitely be my go-to from now on. Highly recommend.
