Neutral Bay Lodge

Room 11 was cozy and calm, and everything seemed well managed. Getting there is a bit hard without a car. Reception was rarely there, so it was difficult to get in touch, but housekeeper Dianna helped me a lot. She’s very kind and always looked out for me.

The room was damp, smelled musty and had mold. The heater was filthy. If you have respiratory problems, sensitivities or other health issues, don’t book; I don’t think the room is suitable for a healthy stay. It could cost you your health. The front desk staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. Thank you to them, but unfortunately the room itself isn’t fit to stay in.

After a long flight from London, I was grateful they could arrange an earlier check-in to suit my 6am flight. In my experience, many hotels wouldn’t have been flexible. The manager and staff were lovely to talk to, and it’s a charming place with lots of good ways to get into the city. I stayed at Neutral Bay lodge for a week while looking for a flatshare nearby. Rooms range from budget to luxury, so it works for travelers wanting somewhere affordable or, like me, a cozy place to call home for a few days. Each room has a generous fridge, and the communal kitchen is well equipped and roomy enough to prepare large meals on a budget. I’d highly recommend it for a Sydney break. Just wonderful!

The views are magnificent, and it’s only a three-minute walk from the beach, with Taronga zoo nearby. When the fan broke, the woman at the front desk brought us a brand new one, which was great service. Our room smelled of smoke all night. Maybe someone had been smoking in there before us, but turning on the fan and opening the window didn’t clear it. It’s a pretty good place if you just need somewhere for one night.
