Nightcap at Jamison Hotel

I left at 12.30am after trying for a few hours to get to sleep and finding another bed for the night. Noise from the hotel next door kept me awake, so if a good night's sleep is what you're booking for, I'd strongly recommend avoiding this place if you can. Maybe midweek nights are better.

The noise was the biggest problem. Loud talking, banging doors, and music went on until after 3.00am, which isn't what I expect when paying average motel rates. The rooms sit right behind the hotel, so staff and patrons are active in the passage outside. In my room, the tap handles needed fixing, the soap and shampoo rack wasn't attached to the shower wall, and the paint was peeling off the bathroom ceiling.

At 11:05 pm, my daughter couldn't sleep because the TV next door was so loud. I phoned hotel customer service, and the person I spoke to said she'd look into it, but never came by. We had a sleepless night with my toddler and young boy. It was a bitter experience, and giving one star felt like my only option. I'm usually satisfied easily and don't go around targeting people or businesses with ratings. We stayed in room no. 3.

We decided on the spur of the moment to stay a couple more nights in Penrith after spending one night elsewhere with more family. At Nightcap at Jamison the room was clean, the beds were so comfortable, and our little girl loved having a single bed of her own right beside her mum and dad. Housekeeping were really helpful and accommodating. Even though it's a tavern, we couldn't hear anything from inside it. The location is just outside Penrith's hubbub, but still handy for the major shops, clubs, cafes, and restaurants.
