Oaks Sydney North Ryde Suites

We’ll be back for an easy stay, and those gully views are lovely. John in maintenance was a joy to chat with, and the underground parking felt secure and was simple to get around. We spent three nights at Oaks North Ryde in a dual-key room. The beds were great, the rooms comfortable, and the kitchen made things easy. Having a washer and dryer was especially handy with two kids. The fire alarm did go off on two nights because other guests were smoking and misusing appliances, which disrupted things a little.

The gym was the highlight for me, really well equipped, up to date and kept tidy. I took a few photos and videos of it, though I only had time to get the front of the room and the kitchen and living area in my room shots. The rooms are very big but quite dusty. There are plenty of pros and cons, so I’m not giving it five stars. It’s an okay hotel, but for the price I don’t think it’s worth it.

The apartment didn’t feel very clean, and the room clean we were told would happen on day two turned out to be just fresh towels. With renovations going on, it was also disappointing that nobody told us the pool was out of order. There were only two of each crockery item for our group of five, so we couldn’t properly relax or enjoy the stay. We ended up going into the city just to find things to do. They gave us a small credit for the inconvenience, but the experience was underwhelming.

The staff were friendly, but that was about the only positive. The rooms are run-down, mouldy and poorly cleaned, and the building is visibly deteriorating inside because maintenance has been neglected. Even the restaurant wasn’t operating while I was there. The safety issue was worse. After an incident caused by their own lack of maintenance, they tried to blame me and pass on a $6,000 bill over their roller-door problem. Completely unacceptable. I don’t know how this place keeps its licence. Choose somewhere else.
