I booked through Booking.com with free cancellation, but then got several emails and messages about billing. I cancelled partly because of all those messages, and they had already charged a bond to my card. Even though I cancelled, they kept 2.9% of the bond plus $5. For a three-night booking, I lost over $17 for nothing but trouble. Don’t book here, it’s a rip-off.

When we arrived for our three-night stay, the cooktop and splashback were oily and dirty. The cookware in the cupboard was dirty too, and there was food on the floor by the sink and dishwasher. We emailed management and got no response. The gardens were overgrown, and there was nothing in the house, like board games, for a quiet day in. The TV didn’t have every channel and wasn’t a smart TV, so we couldn’t log in to our own account to watch a movie. Checkout was at 10am. At 9.43, while we were packing the car, the cleaner walked straight past us and into the house without asking if we’d finished. She started stripping the beds while we were still loading up. We left at 10.01, but it was very rude that she didn’t say anything or even ask to come in. We could have been getting dressed or using the bathroom.

The house was presented beautifully, and the leafy street was lovely and quiet.
