The bar staff are so friendly, always smiling even when it gets busy, and I’d recommend this pub. I don’t come in often, but I’ve noticed two of the men behind the bar joking around together on my visits. One may have been a manager, dressed in black and wearing glasses; the other also wore glasses. They seemed very close, almost like a couple, and it was sweet to see how well they got along. If they are together, I hope they keep that bond.

We had a late lunch here in February for my mother’s birthday, with 20 of us and a great range of menu choices. The staff were fantastic and really looked after us. Some of us stayed the night, and breakfast the next morning was lovely too. I can’t recommend the place enough.

It’s a real struggle to get a drink here. I keep buzzing for service and get nowhere. People can bang on the machines and annoy everyone nearby, and machines are held for ages even when there’s nothing else to play. They still won’t let you use one if it’s reserved for someone who has already left. It feels like they cater more to one nationality than others. Seriously.

At the Station House Hotel gaming area, I noticed a $50 note missing from my pocket shortly after taking my phone out to snap a photo. I thought it might have fallen where I took the picture, so I calmly told Catherine, a staff member, and asked her to check the CCTV. She kept refusing and brushing off the concern. Eventually the manager got involved, reviewed the footage, and showed me the note on the floor and Catherine picking it up moments later. When asked about it, she said it was hers, possibly tips, although I had already explained what happened. The money was found kept in her phone case. The refusal to check the footage at first and what the camera showed felt highly unprofessional. It’s seriously damaged my trust in her and made me question her integrity and whether she should be working at the venue.

Since the old management and licensee left more than a year ago, Station House has gone downhill badly. The staff are unprofessional and don’t know how to give competent customer service. The one remaining standout is the lovely manager, Eri. Otherwise, avoid the place and go to Oasis instead.
