The Capitol Hotel Sydney

The room looked onto what seemed to be a storeroom, with a glass-like ceiling, but the stay was satisfactory overall and maybe good value for the money. The location is handy for the market, restaurants and train station. The guest lift was out of service, so we had to reach reception using the staff lift. Our hotel cards couldn't open reception, either, and the security guard had to swipe us in.

The room was spotless and comfortable, and the location couldn't be better: close to transport, Darling Harbour and shopping, with great food options all around Chinatown. Staff were helpful and welcoming the whole time. It was our first stay and exceeded expectations. Evelyn deserves a special mention for replying promptly to my email before we arrived and greeting us so warmly in person. We'll definitely return.

I'm glad we kept our reservation. The hotel's location was perfect, the room was very clean and the staff were super friendly. Only small issue was that the mattresses felt soft. A big thanks to Michelle and Adrienne for making our stay even better. I'd nearly cancelled, but reading the reviews changed my mind, especially the one where the hotel manager stood up for the front desk staff against a rude customer. That impressed me. The stay ended up exceeding my expectations.

This small hotel is in Thai Town, a short walk from Central Station and close to lots of great restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was very comfortable. Even with everything nearby, there was almost no traffic noise. One side faces a large street that's only for trams, and the other is a small dead-end street.
