I was moving out and carrying my things downstairs, so I left my room door open and the keys inside rather than take them back and forth. I forgot to leave the hallway door open too. A building staff member was working near the entrance, and I asked if he could open it for me. He called it a “lockout” straight away, then I was charged $50. I returned the keys minutes later. It wasn't an emergency or late at night, and I find the fee completely unreasonable. I know there are house policies, but some basic human judgment should apply. Blindly charging a fee in this situation felt more like taking advantage of tenants than fair management. The staff member, Sam, was very rude as well. I contacted the main manager, Tony, about it. He saw my message and didn't reply at all, which felt very disrespectful. The way this was handled was unfair and unprofessional, with no basic empathy. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The location is great, well connected, and there's lots to do nearby. They vacuum the room and replace towels once a week, which was nice, and we met some awesome people. For a tight budget, I guess it can be fine. Still, we had several problems. The rooms are small, ours had no proper closet, and it was hot in summer. The wifi didn't reach any room. You had to use it in an “office” that was only open a few hours a day, and it was so bad that I used my phone every time. There was very little food storage too. Each room could use one reusable bag in the fridge and another in the kitchen, which wasn't enough for two people. We saw cockroaches now and then, and our food bags were stolen from more than once, though it was only small stuff. Weekends were usually loud. The manager could be rude and seemed to try to charge a $50 fee whenever he got the chance. At least last summer, the whole place had a bedbugs problem. Their answer was always the same, and they only fumigated your room once you'd got bites all over your body. I found out this wasn't a new problem and had affected a lot of people.

I've been here six months, and after staying at plenty of Sydney hostels, this is the best one I've experienced. It's clean, well cared for, and in a really vibrant area. Tony, the owner, makes sure everything is provided and is friendly and fair with everyone. Sam manages the place well too. He's professional and kind, makes sure tenants are secure, and deals with concerns promptly and with a smile. It's made us feel at home. What more could you ask for?

We needed a family room for a couple of months, and Tony the Manager was friendly and accommodating. The private bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen, along with washing machines and dryers, gave us the essentials and made us very comfortable. The beds were comfy, fresh linen was provided regularly, and the premises had a rigorous cleaning schedule. The location is excellent for staying in the cbd. The tram is right in front, with easy access to trains and the airport, plus shops, restaurants, and bars. We'll stay again. Thanks, Tony!

The beds were really comfortable, and the other guests weren't too loud. For the price, it's such an amazing hotel if you're visiting Sydney. I loved the stay overall! ☺️💫 The bathroom wasn't the cleanest, and the kitchen was messy, with a few dead and live cockroaches. Also, they don't provide shampoo or conditioner 🥺
