The Hermitage Motel

I come here nearly every week and love it. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the pool tables are awesome, and parking is easy. The bar will make new cocktails for me even though I'm fussy and allergic to a lot of things. The spa bath is on another level, always clean and working, and the pool is clean too. It's a perfect getaway with or without kids, if you have them. There's a latch to stop small children getting out. The restaurant food is delicious, there's a balcony for smokers, and even an ice machine and cheap vending machine. 100% recommend.

We come here for Circuit Assembly or Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses because it's very convenient to the Assembly Hall at Raby rd. Accommodation is generally cheaper than most other places in the area, and we'll happily stay again. The rooms are clean, and some have a kitchenette with basic kitchenware for preparing meals. Many takeaway spots are within a 5minutes drive or 15minutes walk, including Greek, Red Rooster, Mecca's and Hungry Jack's. The meals here are very good but pricey, so it's a nice choice for a special dinner. The bar opens at 5pm, the pool tables are free, and there's a good swimming pool.

The room had a toaster full of breadcumbs but no butter knife or any cutlery. Every sink tap we tried let out an ear-piercing squeal, so we could only turn them on to a dribble. And why is there a disconnected telephone hanging beside the toilet? The location was strange, at the end of a noisy industrial estate. The place felt dated and uncomfortable, and not at all friendly. Rooms were full of drunken, partying yobbos who kept us awake until 3am, threatened to kick down our adjoining door and belt me when I asked them to quiet down. People also kept knocking on the door all night. First time here, and NEVER AGAIN!

It's a bit old-fashioned, but the place was clean, comfortable and had loads of space with everything our family needed. Restaurants, takeaway and the train are nearby. It also makes a great base for sporting events or appointments out west. We'd definitely stay again.
