We wanted a short, relaxing getaway and left extremely disappointed. The rooms were in such poor shape that the price felt shameful and definitely not worth it. In the upstairs room, the carpet was stained and disgusting, and the floorboards creaked with every step. We tried to move around as little as possible for the guests below us. Some boards seemed to have popped up under the carpet. The shower had mould, and the very old-looking refrigerator wasn't even plugged in. We were first shown a room where the noise from people walking above us was so loud that the movement of the floorboards made our fan shake. The staff member said they'd never heard it before, would look into it, and moved us upstairs, but that room had its own problems. We didn't stay for breakfast the next morning. There was a staff member at reception with a baby in a papoose, which was very cute, but the website's lounge/bar mention was misleading: there isn't one. The fireplace is in the lobby, which isn't really somewhere to relax with a drink after a long drive before dinner.

They welcomed us like we were in their own home, which I guess it kind of was! This is easily the friendliest guesthouse we've ever stayed in. We've always chosen hotels in the Blue Mountains before, but from now on we'll look for a guesthouse when we need somewhere to stay.

We held our ceremony and reception at The Hideaway Retreat, and our friends and family stayed for the weekend, so we could spend proper time together. We could make everything personal to us, and it still came out much cheaper than the other wedding venues we'd looked at. We'd got the idea of a destination wedding from a magazine and searched for ages for the right place in the Blue Mountains. Every other venue we spoke to seemed unwilling to let us do things our way. Then we stumbled across The Hideaway Retreat. The staff were so helpful and accommodating, with heaps of contacts and advice. Over the past 12 months, you've helped us organise the wonderful wedding we'd hoped for. We can't thank you enough, and we'll never forget it. We wholeheartedly recommend The Hideaway Retreat as a wedding venue in the Blue Mountains. All the best for the future, and congratulations on the new addition to The Hideaway family!

They do everything they can to make sure you have a relaxing, lovely holiday. Everything was top notch. One of the best places to stay in the Mountains. Thanks, folks, really appreciate it.

The rooms are pretty spacious and the place has a lovely atmosphere. Most of the beds are only doubles, and drinks are quite expensive, but it's still a perfect spot for a weekend getaway.
