The Sebel Quay West Suites Sydney

The view of Sydney Harbour from our room was breathtaking, and my whole family loved it so much we wanted to stay inside and take it in. We had a wonderful, memorable visit and would love to come back. Just two small things for future maintenance: water leaks out of the shower enclosure and leaves the bathroom floor wet and slippery, and some of the interior doors squeak noticeably when opened or closed. They could use a little lubrication.

The pool area is a five star setup, with a pool, gym and sauna up on level 23, plus stunning city views from the Sun Deck. There is some wear and tear around the pool, and the floor was wet and slippery much of the time, so more frequent mopping would help. Service was great throughout, and the room was clean with everything we needed. I've stayed 40 nights and reached platinum in my 2026 year of booking only Accor hotels. My favourite stays have been at Quay West here and Melbourne. The status benefits are starting to show, with a bottle of champagne, two drinks at the bar and gourmet biscuits here. I'd highly recommend staying and will definitely come again.

*Giving one star because zero wasn't available* The reception staff were polite, but seemed unsupported and couldn't resolve our problems. The manager essentially disappeared. I never got a response about my complaints or request to change rooms. At checkout, nobody asked how the stay had been, which was a missed chance to address serious concerns. Having worked in hospitality for years, I don't complain lightly. Taken together, this felt like a wider failure of standards and care. We booked an unrefurbished room knowingly, but at $1,810 AUD for four nights we still expected basic cleanliness and maintenance. Arriving around 8pm, we found water damage around the bathroom door and frame, and the air conditioning was so noisy it disrupted our sleep. The next morning there was a used sticking plaster in the shower tray, and the extraction fan was heavily soiled. We reported everything right away. A staff member handled it appropriately and arranged a move, which we appreciated, but we shouldn't have needed to relocate. The refurbished replacement room still looked tired and didn't match the Sebel website. The rest of the experience wasn't good either. The Level 13 lift foyer stayed dirty and neglected, with debris, rubbish bags and maintenance items visible throughout our stay. Breakfast was limited and lacked attention to detail, with empty salt grinders on several tables. Some male team members in particular fell short in their presentation and engagement. The issues went well beyond the room, from poor hygiene and maintenance to a lack of overall care.

We had a pleasant stay in a really spacious room. The à la carte breakfast was lovely, and the staff were pleasant too. A small carton of milk for coffee and some water would have made it even better. I'd stay again.
