The Strand Hotel

The bed was spotless, the cleanest hotel bed I’ve ever slept in, and the room felt so fresh I felt at home straight away. Staff were ready to help with anything and made us feel welcome. Breakfast and a complimentary drink were included, which was a great bonus. I’d happily stay here again and definitely recommend it.

The rooftop was a lovely way to finish the evening, with a DJ, tasty food and drinks, and a great city view. I was concerned about noise from the pub, but our room on the Crown Street side was completely quiet. I brought earplugs and never needed them, slept like a baby. Our room was spacious and modern, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was modern too, and the thoughtful touches made a difference: robes, a printed guide that was actually useful, and a Zip tap just outside the door for cold or boiling water. The air-conditioning was very welcome on a hot Sydney day. The library is beautiful, with tea and coffee available whenever you want, and the breakfast was excellent. We only booked one night and wished we had stayed two to enjoy the place more. Stanley Street is an easy walk away, with plenty of good cafés and restaurants, and Oxford Street is close too. We had such a good stay at The Strand Hotel that we’ll definitely return. A rare find in a big city.

We stopped in for a quick beer before checking into the Sydney Boulevard. Fred behind the bar was lovely, kind, and welcoming, and there’s a good choice of beers. A great little pub and hotel just across from ours. Would recommend.

We arrived on time, but the manager wouldn’t let us into the venue because someone was walking down the road with a bottle of beer. We understood why we couldn’t go in and only asked not to be charged the “no show” fee. The manager said they’d charge us anyway. We went to Darlo's instead, where the staff were much friendlier.
