Travelodge Hotel Hurstville Sydney

Hurstville was a lovely place to stop, especially with the T4 train line. It goes through Sydney to Bondi junction one way, and towards Cronulla the other, where there’s a lovely coastal walk. We stayed at the hotel for 15 nights, and it was clean with very friendly staff. A special thanks to Greta on reception. We arrived early on Sunday morning, and she managed to get our room ready earlier that day, which we really appreciated. She also gave us directions to the train station and helpful information about the area. I’m sure she’s a valued member of staff. If I visit Australia again, I’d have no hesitation about staying at travel lodge in hurstville. Thanks for making our stay a happy one. Thanks, Steve and Brian Halifax, England

It’s in a great location, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Reception staff were generally friendly, but the service and in-room amenities could be more consistent. For the price, I’d probably stay elsewhere next time. It was a very ordinary stay. We asked for our room to be cleaned and left the sign on the door, but after a long day we came back to find it hadn’t been done. Housekeeping had already left, so reception couldn’t help. That was disappointing and inconvenient, since we expected basic hotel housekeeping. The Chromecast didn’t work with either of our two devices. Reception tried to troubleshoot without success and kindly offered to move us. Even after changing rooms and waiting 5-10 hours to reconnect our devices, it still didn’t work. That was disappointing too, as the rooms weren’t as advertised.

I’ve stayed here five times over three years, and it’s never disappointed. I like the minimalist style: nothing fancy, just the essentials, all functional. The facilities and rooms are spotless and well maintained, and the shower has good water pressure. It’s outside the city centre, but Hurstville train station is right next door, about 20 minutes to central, or less on an express. Club Central next to the hotel is handy for entertainment and food and drink without leaving the premises. I’ll definitely come back on my next Sydney visit.

Wasn’t expecting much from a Travelodge, but the room wasn’t cleaned well and the bed was crap. The jug had been used to make soup, and the cleaning staff hadn’t checked it. The bed was two singles pushed together, each on wheels, with separate sheets instead of a king sheet. They kept rolling apart. There was a top sheet, then a doona with another top sheet as the “doona cover”, except it wasn’t even a doona. It was a mattress protector that still had its elastic stays on it. That’s a new low for cheap.
