Urban Nomad Potts Point - 18-39

There were 20+ rubbish bags stored in the hallway, blocking the way and stinking. Lots of people, including Uber Eats drivers, seemed to be living there permanently, and one guy had his own furniture in the room. I don’t think the photos are even of this hostel. The place was filthy and disgusting, the walls were falling apart, and it stank. The staff were awful. I saw supervisors treating the others terribly, and everything felt chaotic. I had to chase them to get my deposit back. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This place should NOT exist!

They charged me $40 as a security deposit and promised to return it at the end of my stay, but never did. I got no explanation and no response. I genuinely don’t understand how this place is still legally operating, and I would never recommend it to anyone. Avoid this hostel at all costs. This was the worst place I’ve stayed in during my entire life, despite traveling for 5 years across many countries. It was an absolute nightmare and by far the dirtiest place I’ve ever seen, with cockroaches everywhere. The “reception” basically doesn’t exist, and the bathrooms looked like they were never cleaned. The people meant to be staff acted like random guests, and the whole place felt completely unmanaged, as if nobody was actually in charge.

Since Yemi started running events, the place has really come together. It feels much more like home now, and the events have been great this past month. The reception is good, everything is really clean, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

Getting around was easy, with public transport, supermarkets, and everything else close by. For the price, I thought this was a really good hostel. The room was clean, and the staff were super friendly. The vibe was great and the music was always good too. Breakfast was included, which I appreciated. It didn’t look quite as good as the online pictures, but it was still a nice touch. It got a bit cold at night because there was a hole in the ceiling letting in wind, though the warm blankets made it okay. The kitchen could have been cleaner, in my opinion, but I had a great time overall.
