Escarpment Retreat

The lower-view garden was a lovely place to soak up the mountain atmosphere and enjoy the natural surroundings. The wood fire and spa bath made a rainy evening especially enjoyable. Check-in and checkout were very easy, just find the villa, push the door in to enter and pull it out to leave.

The location is great, with St Bernard hotel just a two-minute walk away for a drink or a meal with beautiful views. We had a wonderful stay last weekend, and the owners went out of their way to make it special. The rooms were private and lovely, with high ceilings, a big bath and a fireplace, and the bed was the comfiest ever. I also had one of the best massages I've ever had at the spa with Hayley. We'll definitely be back. Thank you 🙏😊

Bec, I believe that was her name, was amazing and tried to help us however she could. The villa wasn't worth what we paid, and it needs a lot of work. There were mould spots on the bathroom ceiling, the fan didn't work, the shower head fell off while I was showering, and the toilet roll holder and shower soap holder both came off too. The main area fan was broken, and the lifted fireplace top let smoke out. There were cockroaches on the walls, and standing on one during a night trip to the toilet was awful. The TV kept cutting out and some lights didn't work. The back wooden screen caught on the rug, and the glass door was hard to open, scraped and made a terrible noise each time. On our last day we were woken before 7am by a blower and then a power washer. I hope the owner gets in touch with me.

We spent Saturday exploring hikes, wineries, distilleries, galleries and restaurants, and the whole weekend felt blissful. Friday night was an easy walk to St Bernard's Hotel, a great pub with three gorgeous big Bernard dogs. We arrived that evening to a warm villa with high ceilings, timber and stone walls, and lovely lighting, surrounded by peaceful bush. Our hosts weren't around in person, but sent occasional texts to check on us and let us know about firewood. My husband and I escaped to Escarpment Retreat & Day Spa for a winter weekend, just what we needed. We'll book the same time next year.
