We liked the location and thought it was good value. The rooms are roomy, and the beds are huge, with decor that seems intended to suit the building’s heritage. There wasn’t much storage, though. We only found out on check-in day that roadworks had completely blocked the street. It didn’t cause us too much trouble, but we should have been told earlier. The dining area windows had fungus growing on them, and the place looked like it hadn’t had more than a quick clean in a while. Small things would help too: bin bags would have been useful, and a shower curtain could have prevented a lot of mess in the bathroom.

For what we paid, the house was a letdown. It wasn’t clean, with bedroom carpets that needed vacuuming, drool on a pillowcase and a stain on one quilt. The tub in the half bathroom was in shocking shape. We knew only one bedroom had robes, but there was nowhere at all to put our belongings in the bedrooms, not even a shelf.

A handy base for wine outings, with lots of wineries within cycling distance for the fit ones. Bike hire is only 100m away, and the supermarket and restaurants are an easy stroll. It works well for groups and has everything you need, plus wheelchair access and reverse-cycle air conditioning. The bathrooms are shared, with no ensuite, and the gas hot water supply doesn’t run out. Recommended.
