We got there today for a three-night stay, only to find it had gone into receivership and was closed. We hadn't been told, lost our money, and had to scramble to find somewhere else. We'd stayed before and enjoyed it. The new owners are renovating and cleaning, though I don't know when it'll open again. When it does, give it a go, it's a gorgeous old building with charm.

The manager was super helpful and lovely, and breakfast was a simple continental spread of toast and cereal. For the room price, that was a good inclusion. There’s a shared kitchenette for tea and coffee, plus a guest fridge and lounge. The old house, built 1888, has rooms decorated in the eras style. I loved reading its history and looking at the beautiful decor. It really made me imagine life 130 years ago. We had our children, 9&11, with us and it worked well, though it might not suit small kids with so many breakables around. Many rooms are reached by stairs, so consider that if you're not super mobile. Thank you!

The staff were super generous with us, and the room was a real surprise. We were after budget accommodation on a road trip and somehow felt like royalty instead. It takes you back to a time long before you existed, in the best way. The Blue Room is worth getting if you can, with its old-world elegance and a shower of the future. What an incredible find, and the best hotel experience I've ever had.

You get a spectacular view from the tower roof, and the stay feels like stepping back into history. This amazing old house is comfortable and clean, with rooms more or less in original condition apart from the strange modular showers. It was a lovely experience, and probably the cheapest accommodation in Tenterfield.

The continental breakfast was quite good, and the evening meals seemed alright. It's interesting and good value for the price, but the place could use more care and TLC for guests. This historic house is very cool to stay in, though the rooms are just alright. None of the fireplaces work, so it gets bloody cold at night. Beds aren't full length, so avoid them if you're 6' or taller. The ground-floor private bathroom has a strange double shower with a steam room that doesn't work either. Rooms with historic items are very dusty, as those things seem rarely moved. The real coffee machine at breakfast wasn't working. It could be so much more.
