Bernti's Mountain Inn

The rooms are good, the views are amazing, and the staff are amazing too. My brother and I were on a motorcycle trip, and the team responded quickly to our messages in the days before check in, asking what we needed. We arrived an hour before check in started at 3, and Leila, the manager on shift, stopped what she was doing to check us in early. I’d forgotten to book parking, but she found us a spot, showed us around, suggested things to do in the village and took time for a chat. I’ll definitely stay again, 10/10 recommend.

The food was delicious, especially the Asian dishes, and the venue was lovely with a fire. The menu is very limited, but I assume there’s a reason for that. Service, though, was slow and poor. It took about twenty minutes just to place our order, and we had to wait ages to get anyone’s attention. We asked for plates to share the dishes, but they were forgotten and never arrived. Staff walked past several times while we tried to get their attention. Eventually I gave up chasing them over the repeated forgetfulness.

After I left an honest, factual review on Booking.com, the property messaged me saying they “do not tolerate rudeness” and that I wasn’t welcome back. My review wasn’t rude, just truthful about my experience. Their response was defensive and confrontational instead of handling the feedback professionally or constructively. It says a lot about how they deal with criticism and guest concerns. Guests should be able to give honest feedback without being spoken to like that. I’d think carefully before staying here if respectful, professional communication matters to you.

I visited a few years ago. The inn was handy, with a bakery nearby that you could walk to, and the ski lifts just minutes away on foot. I also saw lots of wildlife, including wallabies and deer. My only concern was that the windows seemed a bit unsafe.
