The whole property is clean and well maintained, and the beach across the street is magnificent for watching the sunset. All the rooms face the ocean rather than the building next door, with balconies at the front and back to let a cool breeze through. The best places to eat are an easy walk in either direction along the Esplanade, or you can dine at the on-site restaurant. Best place to stay in Hervey Bay!

We enjoyed our five nights at Riviera at Hervey Bay over Christmas and would stay again if the chance came up. A bottle of bubbles and a box of chocolates were a lovely touch. The free Wi-Fi was appreciated too, though we had no internet for about 24 hours, possibly because of the heavy overnight rain. Our second-floor one-bedroom apartment had a huge front balcony, but the hot, humid weather made it hard to use. The bed was comfortable, though it stopped the bedroom door from closing and made it awkward to reach the mirror behind it. The kitchen had what we needed for cooking, but the frypan was worn and some utensils, including the whisk and spatula, needed replacing. There was a nice coffee machine with four pods; I’d called ahead to ask about one and brought our own pods. The freezer had no ice cube tray, but two were brought over promptly when we asked. The fluffy bath towels left lint on our bodies until we washed and tumble-dried them. There were no towel hooks or rails in the bathroom. The bathroom power point didn’t work, perhaps because it was directly above the basin. Neither the toilet nor bathroom had an exhaust fan. The bathroom ceiling vent looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned, and the fittings seemed to be deteriorating. The walls looked freshly painted, though my pedantic eye caught paint along the bottom of the mirror where it hadn’t been covered. Before arrival, every staff member I dealt with was professional, friendly, and helpful. Jodie made us feel especially welcome when we arrived, a real “Director of First Impressions.” I mention these good points and the things needing attention from the perspective of someone who has previously run a business with 1,000 beds.

We had a relaxing four-night stay at the Riviera. The apartment was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated, and all the kitchen utensils and crockery were spotless. The reception team were friendly and helpful. It’s in a perfect spot, with great restaurants close by and the beach right across the road.

Our three-bedroom room was spacious and well maintained, and the staff were wonderful and friendly. I’d stay there again on my next trip.
