Oaks Townsville Hotel

The friendly service from Kelly and the team really made a difference. They made everything easy and welcoming. The rooms at Oaks Townsville are modern, bright and spacious, with everything needed for a short or long stay. Fantastic stay, great value, and highly recommended. The balcony looked out across the river, with the sea in the distance, and the location made catching the ferry to Magnetic Island the next morning easy. Parking our Hilux was no problem either, there was plenty of room on level two. Inside, the room felt modern and comfortable. The bed was huge, and having a washing machine, a small dishwasher and a large fridge-freezer was a real bonus. After travelling around Australia for months, I’d paid more for dingy, dated motel rooms with little more than a kettle, bar fridge and microwave. This was excellent value. Recommend!

The marina and Home Hill made a gorgeous view from our clean, tidy room. We only chose this hotel because there weren’t many late check-in options. Getting in took some patience: we called the contact number several times and waited about 25 minutes before someone let us into the hotel. Even so, we had a good stay.

The company we booked through was nice to deal with, but the front desk staff treated us so rudely. We’d accidentally left our key on the table and were told there was a spare, but the third-party company had to contact them first. It felt like they were making excuses because they didn’t like the look of us. The boys had no shoes on, and we’re a bit rough around the edges, being from the country. We’d just been to Coles and had cold food for dinner, then waited over an hour for a handyman, a friend of the third party, to bring the spare key. So rude.
