River Retreat Caravan Park

The park is close to Tweed River, and it’s dog friendly, which is a plus. The amenities were clean and the caravan sites were okay, though planes flying low over the park made it noisy. There are lots of long term residents, so it feels less touristy. Unfortunately, even with plenty of notice, the park won’t cancel and instead keeps the full amount for a future visit. I didn’t want that option, and during the COVID lockdown we lost our deposit when the managers or booking system apparently changed.

The kids loved fishing in the river straight across the road, and the pool was absolutely stunning, with its Bali style and river view. We booked a week over the school holidays and would definitely recommend the park. It was quiet, with big powered sites and concrete slabs. Staff were super friendly, and the amenities were clean and well looked after. There’s a laundry and huge clotheslines too. It’s been fabulous, so I don’t understand the bad reviews.

Our dog loved having all that grass, and we had no problems. The powered site faced the river and was next to the pool. We really enjoyed the stay, with helpful staff and clean, spacious amenities. The park is under the airport flight path, but the noise was fine, not unbearable. We’d stay again.

A quiet spot right on the water, and the pool, BBQ area and bathrooms were extremely clean. We stayed one night between Christmas and NYE at an unpowered site. The staff were very lovely. Great for a night or two while passing through.
