Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort

We were given an upgrade to a refurbished room, and the resort grounds are beautiful. Inside, though, we found quite a few ants, and the room phone didn't work when we tried calling reception. The garden areas could use more maintenance too. There were old leaves and kangaroo droppings that hadn't been cleared. It's a lovely location, and a little more attention to the housekeeping and grounds would improve the experience.

The breakfast had a great selection, though starting at 6:30 am meant we missed it on our early departure the second day, despite having paid for it. We also bought the Vitamin D package, which included welcome drinks, but never received them. Our room felt worn, with cracks in the sink and visible stains on the towels and bedding. After the cleaners had been, our rooms were left wide open, which we weren't happy about with valuables inside. The lakefront view and location were excellent, but the front desk staff could have been warmer. A smile at check-in and check-out would've made a difference.

The food was a bit disappointing and could use improvement, and the water rules need to be enforced more strictly. We saw kids jump into the pool despite the “no jumping” sign. Still, we had a pleasant, refreshing short trip, with plenty of activities to try. We especially loved the lagoon, the water activities, and seeing jumping fish at night. The modern rooms were nice, and we'll be back.

We were unsure after reading some reviews, but that completely changed as soon as we arrived. The staff were incredibly friendly, the rooms very clean, and we had an amazing stay. Kayaking and sailing were complimentary, and it was handy to have bike hire for just $10 an hour. The food was delicious, though the tiramisu felt a little overpriced. We'd enjoy having a screen-mirroring option to watch a film before bed. We had a wonderful time and would happily recommend this place.
