The Houston Boutique Hotel Wagga

The exit gate wouldn’t open when we left on our last day, so we had to reverse all the way out through the main gate. We also had a messy check-in: none of our codes worked, and we had to call for new ones. Other guests ran into the same issue. For two nights, we were charged an extra $80 service fee on top of the room price. I stayed at the Houston for two nights, and it’s gone downhill since the new management took over. The website gives misleading room information, fresh milk and yogurt have been removed, and the towels are lower quality. The rooms aren’t serviced, so you use the same towel for the whole stay. When we raised these issues with the office, the response was a standard, tone-deaf one that treated us as wrong about everything.

Nice place to stay, but I wasn’t given a check-in code beforehand. I had to call and wait outside for about 15 minutes.

I was in a ground-floor suite before surgery, and it had amazing facilities and old-world charm, just what I needed. When my admission was moved to the afternoon, they were more than accommodating and gave me a few extra hours before checkout. They also offered kind, supportive words. Many thanks, I’d highly recommend it.

Breakfast was thoughtfully provided, with yogurt, muesli and fruit, and there was all the T2 tea you could want, plus a coffee machine. The room was lovely, with great amenities, a gorgeous bathroom and shower, and such a comfortable bed. The grounds were easy to get around, and it’s very close to the main road. There’s a great pub called the jungle duke nearby. I’ll definitely stay here again when we’re in Wagga Wagga.
