The home is spacious, comfortable, and has everything you need. We love the water and mountain views from nearly every room, and the outside balcony is a favourite place to eat. The established gardens are lovely, and the property is pet-friendly. John has been helpful and hospitable, making both of our stays during Tasmanian holidays relaxing and memorable. It’s a peaceful riverside base, a short drive from the CBD, with easy access to places around Hobart as well as National Parks and Historic Towns further away. We can’t wait to come back.

The river views from every room are spectacular, even from the loo if nobody’s around 🤣. The house is older, with older furnishings, but it was spotless and felt very homey. My friends and I relaxed right away and spent the evening eating, drinking, and catching up in a convenient, beautiful location. The weather wasn’t great, so we couldn’t use the lovely deck, but we WILL return to Derwent Retreat when it’s better. Comfortable, beautiful, clean, and a big full kitchen with everything we needed. Happy group of girls! Thank you 💜 😊

We had six people and found there was plenty of room. It was quiet and comfortable, with excellent views, and we preferred staying here to being in the heart of the city. The shops and freeway are only a short drive away. Hobart has great views all over, so there’s no need to go up the mountain to get one. A very enjoyable stay.
