BreakFree Wirrina Cove

The staff are amazing, and the food is great. On our January stay they served an amazing Chinese menu for dinner, though this time it was just regular meals. We knew what to expect from the rooms after staying here in January. When my partner asked about a microwave, they upgraded us to a golf front room, with a little kitchen and laundry across the hall. That was really convenient with our 8 month old. We don't mind this place and will come back again.

The golf course was a bit dry after a long stretch without rain, but it was challenging to play alongside all the Kangaroos. I had a great, relaxing stay in a suite with a huge bedroom, lounge, and kitchen. The suite was clean and extremely comfortable, if a little dated. The odd thing was that the kitchen had no cutlery or dinnerware at all.

I live in Wirrina Cove, and the resort had been humming on Saturday night, with the motel rooms apparently full and the caravan park full too. Yet when I went there for dinner on Easter Sunday, it was closed. They shut at 4pm and tell guests to drive to Normanville if they want something to eat. Absolutely unbelievable. This place had so much potential, but management is killing it and is obviously using it as nothing more than a tax dodge.

The location is beautiful, and we really did have a lovely time together as a family at our family function. But the accommodation and facilities fell well short of expectations. The resort feels outdated, the carpets smelled unpleasant, the beds were uncomfortable, and some advertised facilities weren't working. There was no elevator to the second floor, which would be difficult for families, older guests, or anyone with mobility issues. On our balcony, we found a bottle full of cigarette butts, and the quilt was stained yellow. The first impression was unsettling, like arriving in a ghost town. Some buildings had boarded windows, the swing sets had no swings, the play equipment was rusty, and the basketball ring had fallen over. Bar service was poor too. They ran out of many basic alcoholic drinks and glassware, and staff seemed to know little about standard drink options. One staff member repeatedly dismissed requests and visibly rolled his eyes, making things uncomfortable. With proper maintenance, staff training, and investment, the place could be fantastic, but sadly it's been neglected and felt like a bad episode of faulty towers.
