Nice atmosphere and good food options, but the meal itself fell flat. Not much seemed fresh, and the chicken was dry and overcooked. The staff service was great, though. Pity about the food, otherwise it would have ticked every box.

We booked The Stables a year ago for our annual family Christmas party, with 50 people, and this was our third year there. On Monday we got a call confirming the booking at the wrong venue, though it was eventually confirmed for The Stables. When we arrived, a one man band was set up in our area. We asked them to leave because it was a private function, but management refused. They said the band would only play from 5:30 to 8:30, while the musician said he was booked from 6:30 to 9:30. Management also claimed we’d always had a band, which we never have. We just want to mingle, talk at a reasonable volume and have fun, without the general public coming into our party to dance. This was unacceptable.

The location is handy, only a couple of minutes from the Golf Course, and the service was very supportive. It was comfortable and great value for money at under $90. The shared shower facilities were excellent, and the food was excellent too.

The staff were very nice and apologetic, and gave us a refund, but the meal was very disappointing. I ordered an eye fillet medium rare, but it arrived cold and medium well. I sent it back, and the chef put it on the grill to heat it, so it came back well done. He wouldn’t cook another steak, saying there was nothing wrong with how the first one was cooked. We also ordered lasagne, which was hot and tasty. We won’t eat there again.
