The courtyard was a nice place to sit outdoors with takeaway food or just have a quiet moment. There’s also a small laundry, and the pool was a welcome cool-down in the heat. The rooms felt comfortable without being too big, and the hotel was clean and centrally located. There isn’t a restaurant or bar.

From the US, I didn’t realize before booking that this is a motel, with room doors opening straight outside rather than onto an indoor hallway. That’s not my preference. Sails in the Dessert is a regular hotel with a 24-hour front desk, and many tours pick up and drop off there. If you can afford it, I’d look at that option. The resort location was great, and I liked the pool when the local kids weren’t making a mess of things. There were lots of shady places to sit and enough turnover to find another spot if yours wasn’t working out. The hot tub wasn’t hot, though we didn’t need it at 104F anyway. Room cleanliness wasn’t great for my husband and me. Bug spray was provided in case of larger insects, but thankfully we only saw ants in the bathroom. The main door and windows could use tighter seals. At night, light came through under the main door, so a bug could easily get in.

The food at Geckos and Ayers Wok was a real highlight, and the staff were friendly, welcoming, and ready to help. The Lost Camel Hotel itself was quiet and cozy, a relaxing place to come back to after exploring. It’s close to everything you need around Yulara. I had a comfortable stay with great service, and the hotel exceeded my expectations. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The bedhead was thoughtfully set up with power points and a spot for my phone, and I liked how the toilet and bathroom were separated from the sleeping area by doors. We stayed four nights in October and enjoyed our time at the Lost Camel. The room layout worked well, though I missed having a table and chairs. Reception staff were accommodating, and the pool was fabulous. We’d stay again if we revisit. Many thanks.

There’s no place to eat on site, but the resort centre is right around the corner. The hotel was well priced, good value for money, and in a fabulous spot at the Ayers Rock resort. The pool was very clean, with a great area around it.
