Hyatt Place Aruba Airport

The best part of the hotel was Adrienne, the wonderful waiter and bartender. He was the BEST, and we need to protect that young man at all costs! The location is convenient, but getting to public transportation means crossing a major highway, which feels dangerous. There aren’t any stores within walking distance, and a taxi charged $45 for a 5-mile ride. The front desk rarely picked up the phone, and housekeeping needed reminders to restock items. The bar prices were ridiculous, especially for the wings.

The water stopped while I was in the middle of a shower, covered in soap, and our whole floor was without water for hours. I missed my family’s farewell dinner on our vacation, and no one offered a solution or contacted me when service came back, even though I asked. That lack of support was the worst part. The staff were polite, but we got surface-level apologies and no real accountability or compensation for the ruined evening. The air conditioning in Room 711 was also terrible, making a loud noise and fluctuating every five minutes. We reported it, but maintenance never came. After two weeks, we left exhausted and disappointed. There were some good points: the hotel is clean, spacious, and convenient for the airport, with excellent lighting, comfortable pillows, and quality amenities. Breakfast was basic but good, the croissants were a nice surprise, and the soundproofing did a great job blocking airport noise. We expected the Hyatt standard. I can’t recommend it until maintenance and guest recovery improve.

The hotel is close enough to walk to from the airport, and rental car parking at the rental company is free. Most attractions are farther away, though the island is small, so nowhere is more than about 40 minutes away. The property had a strong moldy smell, made worse at night when the air conditioning in the common areas was switched off. Our room wasn’t clean, and breakfast was very basic with little variety. The trays weren’t always refilled. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

We chose this hotel for our family’s last night in Aruba because it’s an easy walk to the airport. Since we visited during carnival, I was glad we weren’t relying on downtown traffic on departure day. The rest of our trip was at the Hyatt resort in Palm Beach. The trouble was getting to dinner. The hotel is basically at the airport, so transport to and from dinner cost $60 roundtrip. I didn’t see a Hyatt shuttle anywhere, so maybe that service has been discontinued. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for an extended trip.
