Sea Breeze Town

There was no hot water, and when I raised it, the worker rudely told me, “This is not a five-star hotel.” The room was filthy, full of spider webs, with awful-smelling pillows and air so bad I had to open the window, only to get swarmed by mosquitoes. We had no blankets, and the one we were given was dirty, thin, and smelled terrible. Each day we asked for a refund or to speak with the owner. The worker kept saying the owner was “coming,” but he never showed up. We counted the days until we could leave. This was the most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed, and it should be shut down. Avoid it.

The rooms are good, but Room 12 had a bathroom that smelled like sewer the whole time. Surfside Beach is a seven-minute walk. The airport is about 30 minutes away on foot, while a taxi charges $18 for a four-minute ride.

For $50 a night, my 12-day stay at the Seabreeze in Town was one of the best hotel values I’ve ever had. Joey, the owner, is a remarkable guy who speaks four languages and did everything he could to make me comfortable. It’s an unbelievable gem right now.

I couldn’t wait to leave. The listing made the amenities sound better than they were: I had no towels or hand soap, and the shower was cold. It’s a tiny building, and there was no peace or quiet. One man who lives at the hotel got drunk and loud with company every night, then was loud again the next morning. They didn’t seem to care about their guests, and I couldn’t sleep or feel comfortable. This seems more suited to younger people or drunks. Taxi drivers charge $23 for a five-minute ride, which is ridiculous.
