Tropical Digs

The property is nice, the staff were great, and we enjoyed our stay enough that we’d consider coming back. Check-in is a bit awkward, though they explain the process well. The unit was clean, but the A/C was set to 72 and couldn’t be adjusted, and we couldn’t leave the windows open, so it was freezing. The furnishing was worse than my college apartment: three spoons and a couple of plates. We made do, but I’d expect those basics to be there for each new guest. Some fixtures, including towel bars, closet doors, and cabinet doors, were broken or close to it. They’d been positioned so they didn’t look that way at check-in. Having a cabinet door come off in my hands made me worry about being charged, though we weren’t. It bothered me that they’d put effort into hiding the damage instead of fixing it. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could, since three feels too low.

These are private condos on the Divi resort golf course, but my unit came with very few of the basics. There were no coffee filters, dish detergent, paper towels, salt, or pepper, and no beach chairs or umbrellas to make the $500 deposit feel justified. I also had no housekeeping, just a daily towel exchange. A friend staying at Divi Golf Resort in a one-bedroom unit got everything I was missing, including a welcome bottle of wine and a gift basket the next day. My Tropical Digs unit was a studio, and he paid only $10 more per night. Divi Resort charged him a $200 deposit. Next time I’ll book directly with Divi Golf. Staying there makes more sense.

I’ve been coming to the Divi property in Aruba since 1977. Nowhere is better.

A great choice for an Aruba vacation, with plenty of space and good services.
