The location was fantastic, close to the mangrove beach, and the place had some charm. We liked the pool and hot tub, the rooms were spacious, and they lent us a cooler box and beach chairs for our stay. The night guard Angelo was very knowledgeable, and he was the only one we really saw. The place needs some TLC, though. Outside decking boards were broken and dangerous in places, the cooktop didn’t work, and there was hardly anyone around. The owner finally turned up as we were checking out. There was no hot water for showers, and one bowl and one glass for two people wasn’t really enough if you wanted to cook. The toilet seat was broken too, and the AC leaked every day.

I’d been coming here for a few days during my stay, and it had been wonderful until this happened. One of the servers, Jisury, took our order, then left us waiting 50 minutes for the food and asked twice what we’d ordered. I understand it can get busy, but she didn’t check on us once during that whole wait. It was really frustrating.

The beach is wonderful, just a few steps away, and there's a supermarket nearby too. Mr Nelson is a really nice person and gives you lots of information about Aruba. If you're renting a car, ask at the front desk about Sunset. The price and service were the best, and paying cash costs less.

We had a good stay with the family. It's a quiet place, the service was good, and it wasn't too expensive. I'd give it another star once there's warm water.
