The view from the ocean-facing side was the one real letdown. From there you can see construction on the new Baby Beach hotels for Dreams or Breathless, something we heard about during the Hyatt Unlimited presentation. I wish we’d known ahead of time. The view wasn’t much to look at and took away from the atmosphere we expected. We would’ve picked a poolside view instead during this period. Still, Secrets Baby Beach gave us a memorable birthday celebration for my partner, with the luxury and warmth we’d hoped for. We felt cared for as soon as we arrived. Our butler, Jack, was phenomenal. He anticipated what we needed and arranged thoughtful surprises and smooth plans that made the birthday feel special. Lisa from the entertainment team was another standout. Her energy and genuine enthusiasm brought laughter to the activities, and she has a way of making people feel included and seen. The rest of the entertainment team kept things joyful too. The food was consistently delicious and beautifully presented across the restaurants. Every meal felt special, and the attentive staff at Oceana stood out. With more transparency about the construction view, this place would be flawless.

Baby Beach is gorgeous, and snorkeling there is a must. The resort itself is stunning, as Secrets resorts tend to be, and the food is fantastic. Staff were wonderful, from housekeeping and room service to the people making breakfast omelets. It’s outside the city, but getting into town by rental car was easy enough, and they also run bus trips twice a week.

The 24-hour room service is a great feature and should be advertised more, since plenty of resorts don’t have it. The place is already expensive, though, and extras like a $400 romantic dinner or a $150 cabana feel like too much. Renting a car and spending the day at Eagle Beach and Palm Beach was better value for us. The beach was one reason we booked, so stop advertising as if there’s a private beach onsite. There isn’t one. Guests have to go to a public beach and pay for food and cocktails there. Calling it a local beach “experience” just makes that confusing. The food was okay, but nothing special. We ate offsite for lunch and dinner, and both meals were among the best of our vacation. One of them was your freshly made margarita pizza. Dinner buffets would be a nice casual option for a night when guests want to dress down or eat by the pool or beach. I’d also like more chances to try local food, even if it’s just one local dinner buffet each week. There should be more fun things onsite that don’t cost extra, like food, sugar cane, or coconut carts by the pool, bird photo opportunities, pool tables, or a local vendor night selling art and jewelry. A few pool games each day got boring. A drink menu at the bar with cocktails and frozen drinks to try would be nice too. The butler was friendly, but it took three days for us to meet him, and all we got from him was the daily activity list. The service didn’t offer anything beyond what staff walking around could do. Most staff were very friendly, though a couple of women seemed bothered when we asked questions, especially one person on the entertainment team. It wasn’t Lisa or Poison Ivy.

The infinity pool was gorgeous, the room had plenty of space, and I loved relaxing on the balcony. The fitness center was great, with good equipment, and there were hydration stations around the resort. The bartenders were fantastic too. I don’t drink much, but they still managed to surprise me every time, so eventually I just went with it. Our butler, Sol, deserves a special mention. She was wonderful and added thoughtful personal touches that made us feel looked after. The staff across the resort were friendly, attentive, hardworking, and seemed happy to be there. That positive energy made a difference. There was lots of good entertainment. The Carnivale show was great, the live band kept things lively, DJs brought the energy, and the pool games were fun. Bingo and I still aren’t on speaking terms, though. Food was a big highlight. Breakfast and lunch at the buffet were excellent, and the desserts were so tempting I made a few extra trips for “research.” Oceania was my favorite restaurant, and every meal there was excellent. The cafe desserts could use some work, since they didn’t measure up to the buffet sweets. The hibachi was a treat too. Our chef was so entertaining I wondered if she should’ve been a singer. Dinner and a show, for sure. One small thing to improve: signage around the common pool. It wasn’t clear where some of the stairs were, and a few exits can be slippery. Some signs would help guests stay safe. Secrets Baby Beach was so good that I’m already planning to come back next year for a longer stay. One visit wasn’t enough. My suitcase is mentally packed and waiting for me to catch up. Thanks for an incredible trip, you haven’t seen the last of me.

Aruba’s beauty without the bustle of the northwest Palm Beach area is a big reason I’d recommend this place. The location is beautiful, the bay is crystal clear, and the snorkeling and scuba diving spots are great. Keep an eye on the Atlantic trade winds and strong currents. Rooms were clean and modern, and the bath on the balcony was a nice touch. The infinity pool is wonderfully relaxing, the food is top quality, and there are great fitness activities with good instructors. Staff were great, and there are lots of activities and excursions.
