I recently stayed there for six days, and it’s a good place for what you pay. There’s a good restaurant nearby inside the Lankaran bus station compound, so definitely check it out if you’re staying here. I met lots of cool people there too.
The location is really easy to find, and the owner was very kind. I stayed three nights. The hostel is clean and comfortable, with working air conditioning, which you really need during the daytime heat in Lankaran. There is Wi-Fi, but you have to ask the owner for the network name and password. One issue is that the bathroom and toilet are outside. Also, as in Lankaran generally, there’s no drinkable water.
For a hostel in Lankaran, this place is worth checking out. The price was good, the host was nice, and there’s a restaurant nearby. Taxis can take you into the city center, and it’s not too far away.
The owner really looks after both the hostel and its guests. It’s in a peaceful spot, and the three-bed rooms have proper beds instead of bunks. For the area, the price and quality are hard to beat.
We planned to stay for two days and wound up spending a whole week at Van Hostel. The surrounding nature was a big part of the appeal, with mountains, waterfalls, and primeval forests, along with Lankaran's black sand and warm, gentle sea. The people were friendly and the service excellent. We’d read the reviews, which averaged 9.3, and came to see for ourselves. Don’t believe them, folks, this place is a perfect 10! It’s as comfortable as a 3-star hotel, yet the price is ridiculously low. If God willing we return to Azerbaijan, we’ll stay only at our Van Hostel. If anyone asks why we came, we’ll say we’re visiting, not sightseeing, and that’ll be the honest truth.
