Agnesa Guest House Blagaj

We arrived very late with six motorcycles and eight people, and Armin welcomed us in the nicest way. The hosts were so warm and hospitable, serving homemade coffee and fruit and telling us where to find local beer. We ended up talking late into the night. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and we were really pleased with this guest house.

Blagaj felt so peaceful to me, and the scenery is wonderful. The water is amazingly clear. You can take a boat through a cave if you like, or just sit in the Dervish House and let the sound of the water soothe you.

We stayed in July with our two kids in the rooftop apartment. It has two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom, and it’s close to supermarkets and coffee bars. We also got free access to the owner’s fruit plantation. The heat was unbearable, with just one air conditioner in the living room. The balcony had no roof or umbrella and sat in the sun all the time, so it was too hot to use. The place is only three metres from very busy streets, and with the windows open we heard cars all night. Our son broke an old lamp, so we told the owners. They asked us to pay about 15 euros, which surprised me. The apartment was already expensive, there were three or four other lamps, and even a replacement could be bought for much less. It wasn’t really about the 15 euros, but the service. The apartment isn’t bad outside the summer, but the service could be much better.

A peaceful atmosphere, a short distance from the Dervish House, and a warm, hospitable family made this feel like an authentic Bosnian experience. They welcomed us with homemade drinks and Bosnian coffee. We’ll definitely come back.
