Hotel Herceg

Most of the staff working here were rude, and their service felt lazy and unhelpful. Some even shouted at customers. The way a place stays in your memory is through its people. If you work in hospitality, being hospitable should come with the job, but that wasn't true of most of the staff here.

Breakfast was great, with lots of Western and Balkan choices and a coffee machine that makes cappuccinos. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the bathroom and shower were nice too. The hotel is just two or three blocks from the church, between two small grocery stores and a pharmacy-type shop that reminded me of a little Boots or Walgreens.

The Wi-Fi barely worked in one room and didn't work at all in the other. The location was poor, and the hotel looked far below what the photos and descriptions promised. I don't recommend it. This was our second night without hot water. The shower was completely cold, and after I reported it to the front desk, they didn't resolve anything or even send a technician. They just avoided the issue. The buffet had been advertised as included, but several items were missing and nothing was replenished. A truly disappointing stay.

Dinner from the hotel kitchen was good. Both the fish and pork were well prepared, and I had no complaints about either. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. The one inconvenience was having no complimentary bottled water. Tap water is fine with me, but they only provided small plastic cups.
