Ana, the manager, gave us useful information about town and arranged a local outing to Moskar and a park with waterfalls, with Nikola driving. We had no refrigerator in our room, but could keep fresh fruit and drinks in the clean staff fridge at reception, which we could access anytime. The restaurant meals were fairly good and portions decent. I’d happily stay at Hotel Palace again. We were there for three days after coming from Split in September. Beforehand, we’d booked and arranged a pickup in a spacious, clean minivan. Nikola, a Hotel Palace staff member, was professional and friendly, spoke English, and knew a lot about Croatia and Bosnia. On the two-hour drive to Medjugorie, we stopped for lunch at a restaurant he recommended, and invited him to eat with us. At the hotel, we liked the spacious, clean rooms, the restaurant, and the staff we met. It’s about a ten-minute walk from town. Three thumbs up to Restaurant Dubrovnik in Medjugorie for great food at very reasonable prices.

The staff were the best part for us. We enjoyed meeting and talking with them, and found everyone pleasant and professional. The room was comfortable and well appointed, and the hotel itself is lovely. The breakfast buffet was only adequate. There’s ample parking, and the church and Apparition Hill are within walking distance. For a pilgrimage, it’s a good place to stay in Medjugorie. Outside of that, there isn’t much to see. The main street is packed with tacky tourist shops and cafes, the smoke is asphyxiating, and there are no decent restaurants. Nearby Mostar makes a beautiful and interesting side trip from a historical point of view.

Anna at the front desk was especially nice. The hotel itself is pleasant, but cleanliness needs attention. I stayed six nights and my room wasn’t made. When I asked reception twice, they suggested I hadn’t communicated properly. Since I was there on pilgrimage, I left it at that. I also expected the laundry service to return my clothes ironed. I appreciated that the hotel is about 5-10 minutes from the crowded main street. My room had a beautiful view of a Cross on the mountain, lit up after dark until around midnight.

Very clean and quiet, with very good service. It gets really busy during peak season, with lots of Christian pilgrims nearby and most restaurants full. When we asked about breakfast, reception said it was served from 7am to 9am.

It’s very calm here since the hotel is close to the church but not right on the road. Everyone was super nice and helpful. I’d definitely recommend it.
