Eden Hotel& Spa

The staff were generally polite and helpful in everyday interactions, but management didn’t offer a useful solution or alternative when we raised our concerns. That was disappointing. Room temperature was hard to manage because heating and AC are controlled centrally, with no adjustment in the room, and it got uncomfortable at night. We also booked a hotel trip in a six-seater vehicle. One seat wasn’t properly secured and had to be taken out at the first stop, so for the remaining five-hour journey four people had to sit in space meant for three. It felt uncomfortable and dangerous. The service seemed good on the surface, but these problems got in the way of the relaxing stay we expected at Eden Hotel and Spa. I went in expecting a comfortable, well-managed experience, and had several issues.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, though they had to tell us that some facilities weren’t working. We visited only the hotel’s beauty center and used the pool and sauna area. One type of sauna was out of order, as were the pool extras like jets, one shower by the pool, and the shower in the men’s changing room. We paid 30KM each for three hours, so it felt underwhelming for the price.

Breakfast was really rubbish, and this definitely didn’t feel like a four-star hotel, more like three. The pool was cold; we asked for it to be warmed the next day, but were told it was, even though it still wasn’t. They charged us 10 euros for a lost key card. Rooms aren’t cleaned every day, they said they don’t come around daily, and I had to ask for cleaning. There were no basic amenities like an iron, and I had to pay to get clothes ironed.

The hotel is quite close to the historic center and has parking, which was a plus. But the price felt too high for the quality, especially compared with other four-star hotels we stayed at on our first road trip around BIH. We booked three nights hoping to relax in the SPA because the weather was already cold. The hamam wasn’t available, so the sauna was crowded the whole time, and the pool water was quite cold. In the room, the mattress sagged badly, the shower head was coming loose, and there was a strange bathroom smell. Dust and dirt showed up here and there, including a thick layer of dust on the picture above the bed that we noticed when we turned on the wall light. Cleaning could be better. Breakfast was average. It might be okay for one night, since Mostar doesn’t seem to have many hotel options, but the price should be lower for a place that doesn’t feel four-star. It badly needs renovation.
