Hotel Herc

A lovely place for a short break. The hotel was clean, and the free breakfast and tea were a nice touch. The staff were amazing, helpful and supportive the whole time. Highly recommend!

Easy to reach, though the walk uphill is steep, as shown in the video. It's a small, cosy 3-star hotel in the old part of Sarajevo, with attractions and the cable car station about a 3-5 minute walk away. Clean, with nice basic period furniture. The staff were welcoming and very helpful, especially Amar and Ilma.

The best part was seeing how well the hotel cared for a mother cat and her newborn kittens in the lobby, with food and a place to sleep. The staff were also very friendly, especially the receptionist, who handled our complaints professionally and apologized. But for €60 a night, the room wasn't up to reasonable standards. There were previous guests' hairs in the dirty shower and on the bed, and the towels were stained. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly and the loose toilet seat made it uncomfortable to use. Breakfast was mediocre, and the room's condition made me question the kitchen hygiene, so I couldn't enjoy the meal. Management urgently needs to improve housekeeping; the room cleaning was unacceptable.

Polite, helpful staff, halal food, and a lower price than most nearby hotels. It's close to the old town too. Still, it felt very average for a 3-star hotel, perhaps 3.5 at best. The uphill walk is about 60 metres, which might be a workout, but could be an issue with children, elderly people, or other needs. The rooms were very small, and of the two we paid for, one was much smaller than the other. Walls were thin enough to hear the neighbours, and the toilet seat was broken.
