Residence Mahala

The room was just as it looked in the photos, and the location, facilities, price, and hosts were all good. The views from the common hall were lovely, and the host’s mother was exceptionally kind and welcoming. The main issue for us was the walk up to the apartment. It follows a steep mountain road, and on some days we skipped dinner to avoid climbing it again. I enjoy hiking, so I underestimated how steep it would be. A few hours of planned hiking is different from walking uphill for everyday errands, especially in July heat after a full day exploring town. This wasn’t the property’s fault, and the other aspects were fine, but I wouldn’t stay again because I can’t picture making that climb several times a day.

The rooms were small but comfortable and looked as presented. My dad and I stayed five nights, and the staff were lovely. They gave us recommendations and helped us get around. Popular tourist spots, supermarkets, restaurants, public transport, and taxis are all close by. Highly recommended!

Harun and his family were the best part of our stay. They’re incredibly welcoming and kind, with huge hearts. We only had one night because we’d booked another hotel for the rest of our four nights in Sarajevo before arriving. Otherwise we would have stayed all four nights at residence mahala. The rooms were nicely done and very clean, breakfast was tasty, and the Wi-Fi was fast. The living room window has a breathtaking view, even better at night. It’s about a 3-5 minute walk to the city centre. I can’t put into words how lovely the family hosting us was. If you go to Sarajevo, definitely stay at residence mahala.

The staff were flexible and friendly, and the price was affordable. It’s a beautiful hotel with clean, nice rooms, in a great spot just five minutes from downtown.
